As the Smart Droplets project reaches its final phase, we invite the research and agri-food innovation communities to join us in Athens on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, for the Smart Droplets Final Event. Hosted at the Agricultural University of Athens, this full-day, hybrid event brings together project partners, industry leaders, and decision-makers to reflect on results achieved and, crucially, to look ahead at how agricultural robotics and AI are shaping sustainable farming in Europe.
The day is structured in two complementary parts: a morning project meeting focused on the technical and organisational progress of Smart Droplets, followed by an afternoon public dissemination event dedicated to dialogue, reflection, and market perspectives.
The morning is reserved for an internal consortium meeting, where Smart Droplets partners (Agricultural University of Athens, Wageningen University and Research, Fundació Eurecat, VizLore Labs Foundation, reframe.food, AGreenCulture, AgriFood Lithuania DIH, AGROMA SA, and FEMAC) review final results across all core project activities, from project management and ecosystem building to digital twins, autonomous spraying systems, field deployment, and dissemination activities.
The afternoon session opens the conversation to a wider audience, focusing on innovation, impact, and adoption. It begins with an Introduction to Smart Droplets by Spyros Fountas, Professor at the Agricultural University of Athens (Project coordinator), followed by a project video presenting key technological achievements of Smart Droplets, including live demonstrations from the field.
This first panel brings together representatives from research, technology centres, and sectoral organisations to explore how robotics and AI are redefining crop protection, sustainability, and farm operations. The discussion will address how robotic systems can reduce chemical inputs, support farmers’ decision-making, and align innovation with regulatory and environmental expectations across Europe.
Speakers
The second panel shifts the focus from technology readiness to commercialisation, business models, and adoption, highlighting what it takes to move from pilot projects to scalable market solutions. This conversation will examine real-world barriers and opportunities, from farmer acceptance and cost structures to data integration and regulatory frameworks, offering valuable insights for innovators, investors, and policy makers alike.

The day concludes with an open Q&A and wrap-up session, inviting participants, both in-person and online, to engage directly with speakers and project partners.
Whether you are a researcher, farmer, technology provider, policy maker, or agri-food professional, the Smart Droplets Final Event offers a unique opportunity to connect with experts, exchange perspectives, and explore how AI and robotics can support more sustainable and efficient agriculture.
